Disclosure Process: Risk Color Definition

 

RED (High Risk).

  • Close collaborative relationship with the sponsor and/or an outside entity who conducts business in an area related to the investigator’s university research activity.
  • Significant subject matter overlap of University research activity and outside activity.
  • Ongoing consulting relationship with sponsor.
  • Significant financial interest in sponsor, research collaborator, or entity who conducts business in an area related to the investigator’s university research activity.
  • Ownership of entity who conducts the same type of research and provides the same type of services to outside community.
  • Member of the board of directors sponsor.
  • Supervising the same student(s) both in a University activity and as employees of his/her company.
  • Ownership in patents or technology that is the subject of his/her research.
YELLOW (Medium Risk)
  • Collaborative relationship with the sponsor and/or an outside entity who conducts business in an area related to the investigator’s university research activityc
  • Subject matter overlap of University research activity and outside activity
  • Occasional consulting relationship with sponsor
  • Moderate financial interest in sponsor, research collaborator, or entity who conducts business in an area related to the investigator’s university research activity
  • Supervising the same student(s) both in a University activity and as employees of his/her company.
  • Ownership in patents or technology that is the subject of his/her research;
GREEN (Low Risk)
  • Little to no collaborative relationship with the sponsor and/or an outside entity who conducts business in an area related to the investigator’s university research activity.
  • Little to no subject matter overlap of University research activity and outside activity.
  • Very rare consulting relationship with sponsor.
  • Financial interest in sponsor, research collaborator, or entity that conducts business in an area related to the investigator’s university research activity does not constitute a signification potion of companies totally holdings.
  • An investigator’s consulting relationship with an organization that conducts business in an area not related to the research.
  • Volunteer work that is not directly related to the research.
BLUE (Family Member Collaboration)
  • Investigators collaborates with their spouse, parents and grandparents, children and grandchildren, brothers and sisters, mother in law and father in law, brothers in law and sisters in law, daughters in law and sons in law. Adopted, half, and step members are also included in immediate family in their UNM research activities.
PINK (Incomplete Disclosure)
  • Investigators also must disclose the occurrence of any reimbursed or sponsored travel ( i.e., that which is paid on behalf of the Investigator and not reimbursed to the Investigator so that the exact monetary value may not be readily available), related to their institutional responsibilities; provided, however, that this disclosure requirement does not apply to travel that is reimbursed or sponsored by a Federal, state, or local government agency, an Institution of higher education as defined at 20 U.S.C. 1001(a).
GRAY (No Dislosure related to IR)
  • The investigator did not have disclosable interests in accordance with the regulations requirements.
TURQUOISE (Sponsored Travel)
  • Investigators also must disclose the occurrence of any reimbursed or sponsored travel ( i.e., that which is paid on behalf of the Investigator and not reimbursed to the Investigator so that the exact monetary value may not be readily available), related to their institutional responsibilities; provided, however, that this disclosure requirement does not apply to travel that is reimbursed or sponsored by a Federal, state, or local government agency, an Institution of higher education as defined at 20 U.S.C. 1001(a).
